We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our team. As a Construction Estimator, you will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting blueprints and construction plans to accurately estimate the material and labor costs for residential, commercial, or multifamily projects.
Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze blueprints and construction plans to understand project requirements and specifications.
- Perform quantity take-offs to determine the materials required for the project, including lumber, concrete, roofing materials, electrical components, plumbing fixtures, and finishing materials.
- Calculate labor requirements based on project complexity, task duration, and required skill sets of workers.
- Utilize specialized software or tools to facilitate accurate cost calculations and produce comprehensive estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and subcontractors to gather necessary information and clarify project details.
- Research and stay up-to-date with current market prices of materials and labor to ensure accurate cost estimations.
- Prepare detailed and competitive bids for projects, considering all necessary costs and contingencies.
- Provide cost breakdowns and explanations to management and clients as needed.
- Attend project meetings and collaborate with the construction team to address any changes or modifications that may impact estimates.
- Collaborate with procurement and purchasing teams to assist in the procurement process by providing accurate and timely material quantity and cost information.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Proven experience as a Construction Estimator, preferably in residential, commercial, or multifamily projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and costs.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and construction plans.
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with construction estimating software and tools.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Solid organizational and time management skills.
